Rating by category:
The location is excellent. It is within walking distance of both the Duke University Medical Center and the va Hospital. It is only a couple of blocks from the Durham Expressway, and that will get to to other parts of the city very quickly. My room was quite large.
The staff all seem to have been trained by the us Postal Service (I.E., they are completely indifferent). Parking is difficult, for the lot and garage are small. The prices charged do not match the fares posted in the room. My large room, which I liked, had a nice work table in the middle of the non-bed area, but no overhead light or lamp. How does one work in such dim light? My pillows were next to useless; I don't know if they were worn out or just very cheap, but they had almost no loft.
Cleanliness Air condition was already on and the room was a comfortable temperature
The in room coffee was missing cream, spoon The check in clerk was rude The tv was too small
Did not receive the room rate I booked online
Great price, great location, great value, very luxurious towels!
The continental breakfast was very lame. I expected something like bagels , croissants, and cereal, but it was only cereal and not very good coffee.
Room was clean and pleasant with fridge & microwave. Staff provided a cable for internet hook-up and held luggage after check-out. Nothing special about breakfast, but it was adequate. Good place to stay if visiting Duke Univ or or hospital.
The close proximity to the Duke Hospital. It was so nice to have lodging near the hospital while our family member was having surgery.
I don't have any complaints. The tub/toilet area was very tight, but we made it work. My mother was in town for surgery on her ankle/leg and found it a little difficult to maneuver in the bathroom.
This hotel is close to the Duke Hospital and very comfortable. We recommend this to all who may have to visit the Hospital either as a visitor or a patient. Very Clean.
The rooms were clean and comfortable with all the necessities. The air conditioning worked great.
Each morning I was there I was awoken by loud noise around 7am, that sounded like banging doors.
I liked the convenience of location of the University Inn Duke. I visited Durham for an eye surgery and was able to stay close to the hospital at a reasonable rate which was nice. I also appreciated the discount provided by the hotel for individuals receiving surgery, treatment, etc. at the hospital or surrounding doctor's offices.
Close to the Duke Eye Center
Parking very limited, and very hard to park in the small spaces. So small, hard to get out of the vehicle.
The hotel staff was very accommodating. They helped answer all my questions and easily offered to help me with my logistical challenges. The offered a cheaper taxi to the airport. They offered assistance with the shuttle service. It was very nice not have to ask for everything but allow your staff to be customer service oriented. I also liked how the lady behind the desk looked up the direction to make sure the driver knew where she was going. They worked together.Thank for all you did to make my stay enjoyable.Joseph Eisen
Breakfast could be a little bit more inviting.
Rooms were clean, staff were professional, good location to hospital, felt safe, was able to walk to hospital, transport van gave us a lift from the hospital which was very good. Good parking, quiet while sleeping.
Coffee, it would have been nice to have a better coffee, but I do understand the coffee machine that was used.
The excellent shuttle service to Duke Clinic for doctor's appt. The driver was helpful and friendly. Thanks!
Parking is tight, but I've seen worst. Breakfast bar was ok, except that there was no coffee.
The price was great for a quick overnight stay.
I didn't like my "non-smoking" room smelling like stale smoke when i opened the door.
Cheap, clean, very near of the Duke University Hospital.
People there are trying to talk with me and the employees told than I wasn't there. At the first day my room stayed without water for 2 hours. The internet there is very slow.
